Excerpt:
“Tell me what you know about Mariner’s Maiden please, Kirby.”

Kirby took a long draw on his beer before he began his narrative.

“It was years ago, around 1800 Miss Emily, when the original land owner arrived on the Island with settlers from Norway. He’d claimed five hundred acres on this southern point of the Island for himself. He became wealthy in cattle, wheat, timber and cheese. As his family grew and were educated on the Mainland, they moved, one by one, off Island. They were a wealthy, hard-working lot, but needed less and less of the acreage they owned. Much of the original plot was donated to the Town throughout the years. Some sections were sold.

“It got down to the last hundred acres when Colin Jorgenson bought the property, around 1890 or 1900. I am not exactly sure. The main house was much smaller and less grand than it is now, for sure.

“Now, Colin was a Maritime Captain and often he’d be gone for months at a time. He sailed the Great Lakes several times a year with supplies, spices, fancy goods and ‘fortunes of bounty’. That’s what they called it then. It was for sale to rich settlers throughout the Great Lakes. He’d earned all his wealth in trading by the turn of the century. He came and went for several years until, in his mid-thirties, he met and married a much younger woman, Amalya, and came back to the Island with her.”

Kirby sat back, drained his beer and continued. “The property was called Mariner’s Cove then. He spent two years with Island tradesmen rebuilding this house for his wife. To honor her, and before his return to the water, he commissioned a maritime woodcarver to create the figurehead of Amalya you saw yesterday on the tree marking the entrance.

He had the figure of Amalya mounted on the bow of his ship and apparently felt she was always with him in his travels. She died one summer, pregnant with their first child, shortly after his returning from his last trip of the season. He shut himself away in this house—a broken man, left forlorn and alone, to die years later of a broken heart as a recluse. It’s said he returns night after night trying to find his Amalya, his beloved.”

“But that’s just old folklore, Miss Emily, there’s nothing to it but made up stories from the past by gossips and romantics. This place has never been haunted—no one has ever said it was, anyway. Even though he was long dead, this property was held in Old Colin’s estate until your uncle bought it around 1955, I think. I suppose there is more you can find out at the Archives office in the Island library at the town offices, if you want. That’s about all I know and it ain’t much.”

Refusing a second beer, Kirby was off to finish his chores. “Thank you, Miss Emily,” Kirby said as he stood to leave.

Emily walked him to the door with Barkley in tow.

“Oh, there is one more thing” he added. “There is supposed to be a crypt on the property somewhere. I heard tell that Old Colin buried his Amalya in there and when he was dying, he crawled into it to die on her casket. Creepy, but no one’s ever found it to my knowledge—and between me and my dad, we’ve covered this property as caretakers for over fifty years.”

Emily extended her hand in gratitude for the information and company. “Thank you, Kirby. All of that is so very interesting. He must have been deeply in love with Amalya.”

Kirby, a middle-aged man, stood and shook Emily’s hand. He turned to leave, stopped and dropped his head as he hesitated at the bottom of the steps. A simple country man, this time was no different.

“Miss Emily…” He looked up at her rather sheepishly, and stuttered slightly, “Forgive me, Miss Emily, if I offend you. I have been a bachelor all my life and never had a way with women or much of a need for them. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I like ‘em well enough, but I never was able to pick the right words in their presence. If…if you don’t mind my saying…you look an awful lot like those paintings in the house of Miss Amalya.”

“Oh my word, Kirby, how you flatter me! It is purely a coincidence, I assure you.” Emily smiled, as she dismissed the compliment and waved good-bye at Kirby. As he left, she thought about the love shared between these two remarkable people, Colin and Amalya. Amalya and Colin.

She had forgotten to ask what became of the baby…

Excerpt:

Margie crept from the hall to the library and back again. It was the strangest thing how people either were not there when they were wanted or were breathing down your neck and scaring you out of your skin. There seemed no middle way in this house.

She would have to go upstairs. It was the obvious place to look. She started climbing steps, feeling like an intruder and unsure how she would explain why she was snooping around the house if she did find someone. A snigger told her she was on the right track. Tiptoeing across the landing and down a passage way, she homed in on the intertwined voices, Shyan’s wisecracks and Mrs. DePlessey’s purrs of appreciation.

Through the gap between an open bedroom door and the jamb, Margie watched unobserved. Shyan was standing on a foot stool wearing only underwear. Evidently measuring requirements had reached the upper thigh. A crouching Mrs. DePlessey’s glistening nails trailed a tape over the city boy’s pale flanks. Shyan’s muscles tensed as her fingers neared the straining material of his briefs.

“Am I tickling?” The question was made to sound guileless, like a dentist asking “Am I hurting you?”

“Well a bit,” Shyan said. “But it don’t bother me.”

I’ll bet it doesn’t, Margie thought. She was so mad at him. Had he forgotten why he had come? Not to dally with the housekeeper, that’s for sure.

The waistband was the next number on Mrs. DePlessey’s list, and as her arms circumnavigated Shyan’s midriff with the tape measure she could not refrain from rubbing the bangles on her wrists against his bare skin. The metal must have been cold, because Shyan jumped slightly at the touch.

“Oh, I am sorry. Did I do that?”

You calculating bitch, Margie wanted to shriek. She’d seen better acting on the soaps.

But there was nothing simulated about Shyan’s reaction once the tape made contact at the base of his spine. Margie didn’t have to see below his waistband to know his self-control was on the edge. It wouldn’t take much to unbalance him.

All it did take was another move in Mrs. DePlessey’s repertoire of suggestive contact. As her breasts prodded his stomach, ostensibly so she could complete the tape loop, Shyan’s hands descended onto her shoulders. Then the tape was forgotten as her lips came up to meet his. Her clasping arms steadied him on the wobbling stool. They moved to the bed in an uncoordinated tango, and toppled into a grinding embrace. Shyan tackled the buttons on her blouse. His hand groped for the bra clip at her back. He suckled on an inflamed turret of a nipple, with a gusto equal to Ainsworth’s effort during Margie’s previous spying escapade. Then the couple’s hands met and, steered by one or the other—or both—glided in unison down the crevasse between their bodies until they disappeared inside Shyan’s briefs.

Margie was mesmerized. Exasperated as she was by her cousin’s easy compliance, she couldn’t help being fascinated by this mesh of desires. That was why it was so startling when Mrs. DePlessey rolled Shyan to one side and, with a light kiss on the lips, told him, “We must save this.”

Shyan gaped and attempted to insert a hand between her closed thighs.

“For what?” he asked.

She smiled, not in the provocative way Margie half expected, but rather as if Shyan hadn’t understood.

“In time,” she said. “In time.”

thingsthatgohump300x200Hocus Pocus: This is what I say to people who’ve never seen my favorite 1993 classic:

Also, can we please discuss the hotness that was Thackery Binks before he was a cat?

This movie started my obsession with Thora Birch as well.

Practical Magic: This is my feel good, women power, tingly feeling movie. I always happy sigh, no matter what age I am when I finish watching it.

Beetlejuice: Say it three times, you know you want to…

Casper: Come on, how badly did you want to dance with Devon Sawa? What? I’m the only one?

The Blair Witch Project: It’s a little corny now, but back in the day I used to post up with my best friend with a 24 pack of Mountain Dew and watch this movie on repeat until the sun came up.

Paranormal Activity: This was the second coming of The Blair Witch Project for me…until they started making sequels.

The Cabin in the Woods Joss Whedon Version: Those who don’t know, I’m a Joss freak. I have his quote and name on my arm.

What Lies Beneath: There was something about this movie that always tweaked my creep factor and I couldn’t tell you exactly what, but I still love it.

Tucker and Dale Versus Evil: I found this movie recently on Netflix and my Halloween wouldn’t be the same without it. Had me laughing so hard I almost passed out.

Sean of the Dead: A classic.

Furious TemptationFurious Temptation:

For millennia Megaera, a Fury, has functioned as Hades right hand by passing judgment on demons who break the sacred laws. Stalwart in her moral compass, but harboring a curse triggered by rage, she walks a thin line between perfection and destruction. But when she digs into a case uncovering a string of demon rapes, she incites a war with Mount Olympus that could ripple chaos throughout the ages.

Omen Cole was demon made during the Civil War after repeated torture at the hands of his enemies. Sentenced to an eternity as watchdog over his emotionally frail, once human ex-wife, he’s haunted that he couldn’t save her from a brutal assault.

Now it’s happened again. And Megaera needs his testimony. Omen will sell his body—and anything else—to avenge his fragile ex-wife. If that means an alliance with Megaera, he’ll make it the most memorable of their eternity.

An Exclusive Excerpt from Testing Tom by Lucy Felthouse

WMS_blogtourMy novella, Testing Tom, is a femdom erotic romance, which was released on the 30th July. I’ve been touring all week with it, discussing various elements of the story, so today I’d like to share an exclusive excerpt so you can really get a taste for what it’s all about. Enjoy…

She glanced into the mirror one last time before heading out of her bedroom. Grinning, she acknowledged that she looked good and that Tom would probably be drooling as soon as he stepped through the door. Her smile widened—he could perv on her all he liked, he wouldn’t be laying a single finger or any other body part on her tonight. In fact, now she’d come up with a few tasks she wanted him to complete in order to prove himself, she decided that he would have to pass at least two tests before she’d allow him to even touch her. She’d go for three if she could, but she doubted it would be possible. She was a woman with needs, after all. Dominating Tom turned her on like crazy and she loved fucking him, too, so she wouldn’t be able to hold out for too long before pouncing on him.

Just then, the doorbell sounded. Katrina looked at the nearest clock. He was exactly on time—a point in his favor already. He’d probably been standing outside for a few minutes, but he knew she didn’t like people to be early or late, and so had hung on for the precise minute they’d arranged before announcing his presence.

She took her time getting to the door, just to remind him of his place. Then she unlocked and opened it, then turned around and sauntered away without a word. She heard the closing and re-locking of the door, then nothing. Tom didn’t move, didn’t speak. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. He hadn’t forgotten his training, then.

Sitting in the middle of the sofa, her usual television-watching spot, she crossed her long legs and picked up the remote that was resting on the arm. Just before pressing the button to switch the set on, she spoke. “Turn around, Thomas. Face the corner next to the front door, sit down, be silent and don’t move until I tell you.”

“Y—yes Mistress.” He said nothing else, but she heard the rustle of clothing and muffled thumps as he shifted into the position she’d ordered. After giving him long enough to get himself sorted, only then did she turn her head and look at him.

“Very good,” she said, with a nod. “Now I’m going to watch some TV.”

He remained still and silent, so she twisted back around and did as she’d said. Pushed the red button and waited for the screen to flicker into life, before using the remote to find a channel she wanted to watch and selecting it.

For the entire hour of the first program she watched, the only sound came from the television. Had she muted it, she would probably have heard only two lots of breathing. Tom was doing as he was told, and doing it well. He had to be in some discomfort by now, sitting on the floor would be making his bottom ache, and not being able to move would be having the same effect on the rest of his body. Good, she decided, he deserved it. It was nothing compared to the pain she’d felt when he’d left her. These tests would be good for the both of them—he’d be reminded how to behave, and she’d get reassurance of his feelings, as well as no small amount of revenge. Tom Black ought to be damn grateful she was just a dominatrix, and not a murderer.

When the commercial break came on between programs, Katrina turned off the sound on the television, and turned to look at Tom once more. Sure enough, he was silent except for his breathing, and hadn’t moved a single muscle.

“Good boy,” she said, deliberately making her voice sound like she was talking to an obedient dog, “very well done.” She paused. “Right, I’m going to watch one more program, and then I’ll consider allowing you to get up. So don’t let yourself down now, will you?”

He didn’t respond, but then, she hadn’t really expected him to. He’d known it was a rhetorical question and that she’d been trying to catch him out. He was a lot of things, was Tom Black, but he was no idiot. Except for when he’d dumped her for a vanilla chick, of course. That had been completely and utterly stupid, loony even, but he was paying for it now.

She found it difficult to concentrate on the next program, as she was hyper-aware of the man sitting in the corner of her living room. She’d never stopped loving him, never stopped being attracted to him, and now he was here, in her house, she really wanted to go back to the fun, sexy games they’d always played, rather than something that was somewhat dull, and provided no physical pleasure for either of them. Mental and emotional pleasure was another matter altogether, of course. She was feeling plenty of that as she got her own back on him, that and a huge rush of power. Tom, a grown man with his own mind, was in the corner like some kind of dunce—albeit without the cap sporting a large ‘D’—and he was there because she’d told him to be, and because he wanted her back.

I hope you’ll check out the book. And if you do, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Thanks so much for stopping by. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway below.

Testing TomWhen Katrina’s ex, Tom, turns up on her doorstep, he’s literally the last person she was expecting to see. After dumping her and running off with a vanilla chick, Tom broke the Domme’s heart and left her seriously hurting. So when he returns, begging for another chance, Katrina is understandably very confused and protective of her bruised feelings. She finds it very difficult to believe that he’s turned his back on a vanilla lifestyle for good and wants to be with her, a professional dominatrix. Rather than letting her head or her heart figure out what to do, whether to forgive him, she decides to put Tom through a series of challenges that will prove his devotion to her—or not. Testing Tom is not something she’d ever expected she’d have to do, but to her, it’s the only way she can be sure whether he’s back for good.
