Erotic Autumn by Tabitha Rayne

thingsthatgohump300x200Well hello and happy spooky season 😀

I’m delighted to take part in this supernaturual humpery here at Kd’s place – especially celebrating her Lakeland Witches!

I always think I hate leaving summer behind – I really find it tough when I have to put my wee bare toes back into bedsocks of an evening. But then, in late September, something magical happens…

web from PinterestThe spiders come out.

One morning, you wake up and go outside to see the first webs of the season laden with sparkling orbs of dew. If you’re really lucky, this sight might be accompanied by the raspy caw of a crow or two. One of my favourite sounds in all the world is the call of a  crow carried on the heavy breath of a misty morning… ahhhh. It fills me with a melancholic dread that both terrifies and excites me beyond reason.

So before I know it, I don’t give a damn about summer and I’m fully and utterly immersed in autumn. Everything smells so earthy and feral, I just love the atmosphere – expectant for something spooky and dark. I think it is the true season of erotica, don’t you?

I’m going to leave you with an excerpt of Mia’s Books – my paranormal tale of love and a sexy ghostly threesome romp… Follow me on twitter at @tabithaerotica and tweet me something spooky (not too scary, I am a total wimp) with hashtag – #KdsGooseHumps and I’ll pop you in a draw for an ebook copy 😀

Here goes – thank you so much for having me over Kd x x x

Mia's BooksMia cast the flashlight around to find one of the couches that adorned the big room. As the light caught the end of the sofa, Mia thought she saw a shadow flit around behind it.

“Hello?” Her voice quivered, and a chill ran down her neck. She thought she heard an intake of breath and flung herself around the shelf, sweeping the flashlight back and forth over the books. Nothing.

As a non-sleeper she was used to prowling the night alone, but she was most definitely not immune to scaring herself. She shrugged and took a seat on the cool, hard leather of the couch.  Cocooned in darkness, she felt a little more comfortable.

Taking off her sweater, she placed it at the small of her back, and stretched out her legs down the length of the sofa. As she took a deep breath and got ready to read, the same chill ran through her, over her chest this time, and Mia was amazed to feel her nipples stiffen under her blouse. She aimed the beam at her chest and sure enough, there they were standing proud and erect like frozen little buds. She reached up to one and rubbed it between her fingers. It really was cold. It was the oddest sensation, but one she was keen to explore further. Holding the flashlight in her mouth, she untucked her top from her waistband and slid her hand up onto her bare breast.

She opened the book with her other hand while softly massaging her nipple around and around. The story began, setting up the characters and plot, but Mia skipped on until she found the words she was looking for: pussy, cock. She felt a flush deep between her legs as the sensation in her nipples intensified to both breasts now.

The stimulation from her fingertips was being mirrored onto the other. The icy touch in her left breast was magnifying, as if it was being massaged by another person. She maneuvered the flashlight between her teeth to see the fabric of her shirt being pulled and puckered in time with the sensations. She shrieked, dropping the book and torch, and scrambled onto the floor.

“What the fuck was that?” Her voice was trembling. “Where are you?” She was met with deathly silence, and she gulped in air to keep up with her heartbeat. Warmth reclaimed her nipples, and her breathing slowed.

She picked up the flashlight and swung it around, knowing that she wouldn’t see anything. Don’t be ridiculous, she kept telling herself over and over again. Shaking with both fear and arousal, she took her place on the sofa and picked up the book. As she brought it up to lean on her thighs, she realized it felt different. Her fingers detected leathery raised text on the cover where before it had been smooth and pristine. She leafed the edge of the pages to feel them soft and worn, and inhaled the musty scent of an ancient tome.

Mia was trembling when she finally shone the light on the title.

Ghost Lover.

The beautifully embossed gold font was bordered by strange dark symbols and patterns. Mia was still shaking as she opened the first page.

It was blank, but as she looked more closely a smudge of black ink began to form and take the shape of perfectly handwritten words on the page.

My gift to you, Mia, it spelled out in stunning calligraphy…

AAAAAND! Here’s just a taste of what’s between this sizzling pages — a little excerpt from my story, Stones.

Blurb from Stones:

When landscaper and gardener, Paul Danson, takes on the task of clearing the overgrown grounds of the mysterious Magda Gardener’s decaying Victorian mansion, he uncovers much more than the  disturbingly erotic sculptures hidden amid the bramble and ivy.

Excerpt from Stones:

Not wanting to risk another dream, I settled on the sofa with my laptop. I found myself looking at the works of great sculptors, Michelangelo, Bernini, Rodin, trying to think what made Magda Gardener’s sculptures different. There was sex, there was passion, there was violence, even rape. All were themes of the great sculptors. Bernini captured the very essence of Hades dragging Persephone off to hell – her terror, his lust – and no one could look at that sculpture and doubt what would happen next. Yet the horror was once removed, as though the stone itself has rendered safe and distant what was savage and terrifying, what was a breach of human decency.

Bernini's Hades and PersephoneBut Magda’s sculptures practically burst from the stone into life, into whatever mute terror secretly torments them, as though the sculptor fully understood that our most hideous nightmares are the ones born from the twisting and disfiguring of our most vulnerable passions. Could there be anything more horrendous than our deepest fear realised at the very point of ecstasy? Horror films capture it perfectly. The young couple, caught mid-fuck, always see it coming, and their last battle is the battle between ecstasy and horror.

A Peek at What’s to Come

Writing imageFab writer, good friend and sister Brit Babe, Tabitha Rayne, tagged me for this blog hop Q and A fresh for 2014. You can check out her answers here. As you know I always sneak in through the back door of every New Year anyway, so February is when I finally catch up with all those new beginnings, and here is a peek at some of what I hope for in 2014.  I’ll tag 2 more unsuspecting writers at the end of this post!

If you could achieve anything with your writing in 2014, what would it be?

I would love to sell my Epic Fantasy trilogy and branch out into the wider world of fiction. I adore writing erotica and erotic fiction, and I can’t imagine not doing it, but I think like so many writers, I want ‘adventures in writing,’  and my wonderful characters in the first novel of my trilogy, The Choosing, have given me huge adventure and loads of dark, edgy fun in a new world.

There’ll be another book coming out in The Mount series at the end of this year as well, and I would love to get back to work on Eye of the Beholder, the burlesque play I’m working on with Moorita Encantada. So much to write, so little time!

What are the top three demons you must slay to achieve your goals in 2014?

The demon of self-doubt is always a biggie. No matter what I achieve, no matter what happens, I’m always and ever neurotic and there’s always room for a little more uncertainty.

The demon of Tunnel-vision forever haunts me and hounds me. I need more balance in my life, more play time, more time to read for pleasure and enjoy a little breathing space. I know that the Tunnel-vision demon would be way less of a problem if I didn’t love what I do SO much, but still, I write better and am more creative when the rest of my world is a little more ordered and balanced.

The negativity demon is a demon I’ve fought with all of my life. I don’t just see the glass as half-empty, but I often see it cracked and dirty as well. Sigh! I suppose seeing the cloud in every silver lining helps me prepare mentally for the worst and then allows me to be pleasantly surprised when things aren’t so bad. But really … Negative Nelly is very neurotic!

Name three things that inspire you to write

Just about anything can inspire me to write. It doesn’t take much. But things that are guaranteed to inspire in my life are long walks, working in the veg garden and, believe it or not, ironing. Of the three, I most definitely prefer the first two.

What advice do you have for a new writer who is considering writing fiction?

First of all, get the words down. ALL of them! Push on to the end, never go back, never quit, never stress about how bad what you’ve written is. First drafts are almost always crap. That’s how it’s meant to be. But you have to get something on the page before you can make it shine. First and most important rule of writing is WRITE!

Secondly, don’t ever give up. Like most things worth doing, perfecting the writing craft and telling stoies and getting them published takes lots of hard work and lots of time. That means the people who have made it, the people whose novels you enjoy reading are the ones who didn’t give up, the ones who got that mountain of rejections and just kept pushing. DON’T GIVE UP!

That’s me in through the back door of 2014, and now keep an eye out for these lovely writers and their 2014 plans.
