This Summer’s Sexy, Heart-felt Must-read, Dianna Hardy’s The Spell of Summer

A huge thank you to KD for having me on her blog! It’s always an honour to be here, because I LOVE her Lakeland Heat series, and I know how busy she is 🙂

Read on to find out all about my upcoming release, which can already be pre-ordered.

Dianna Hardy SOS 3

Meredith is leading a straight-laced life in London with her straight-laced fiancé, determined to forget her reckless, wild-child past. They’re about to get married.

Jamie is an old, poetic soul with a broken heart returning home to Cornwall to get his life back in order.

What binds them?

Dianna Hardy SOS coverOne chance meeting thirteen summers ago; one innocent spell spoken after one perfect night…

And now history is unravelling; the past and present, merging…

Words can change everything, but can they change your destiny?

And in the messy world of magic, what part does love play?

It’s summer all over again, but the spell has only just begun.

Defined as Practical Magic meets a Nicholas Sparks novel, written

‘Dianna Hardy-style’ – do not miss this summer’s must-read story!

This is a heartfelt, summer romance, but also a story about letting go, making changes, second chances and acceptance. Since most of my books are racy and erotic urban fantasy romances, I was definitely nervous to delve into the realms of contemporary romantic fiction, not least because in my heart, I wanted to keep my “signature” style of writing: third person point of view, from many different characters, as fast-paced as possible without compromising detail, and, of course, it had to have meaning, humour and sexiness, with characters that are both real and larger-than-life.

Reading over that, it’s no wonder I have a mini-panic attack every time I write a book! That sounds like a lot to fit in, especially into a genre I’ve never written before, but I hope I’ve succeeded – time will tell 🙂

Dianna Hardy SOS 2

The Spell of Summer was originally going to be a more standard romance, telling just the story of the main couple, and I even considered writing it in first person, present tense. In the spirit of brutal honesty, that’s what seems to sell the best – it seems to be what readers want.

I’m glad I didn’t write it that way, although I can only say that now that I’ve finished it! The end product is truly what I wanted, it’s very ‘me’ and I’m over the moon with it.

(insert “tame her” quote image)

I jokingly call myself a “method author”. It seems that every time I write a book, something happens in my life that enables me to get within a character or situation that I need more insight on. The Spell of Summer was no different – god, not at all – and I hope you all enjoy the read. Writing it was certainly an amazing journey.

BIO

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author, Sarah Castille, writes contemporary erotic romance and romantic suspense featuring blazingly hot alpha males and the women who tame them. EXCERPT

“Mount.” Jax beckoned her forward, his voice curiously husky, and for a moment she wondered if his touching exercise had affected him as much as her.

Marcy crawled up his body and then sat astride his abdomen in Full Mount. God, his stomach was rock hard. Just like the rest of him.

Jax’s body stiffened beneath her. “Christ, Marcy. Are you trying to kill me?”

Puzzled, she shrugged. “I thought you wanted me like this.”

“I do. No. Hell. I mean…to practice the submission, you need to be in High Mount.”

Understanding dawned and she tried and failed to repress a smile. “Am I mounted too low for you, Jax?” She was sorely tempted to give a little wiggle because she could feel something hard pressing into her ass and she was desperate to know if he was wearing a cup. In all her years of training she’d never affected a guy this way and she had to bite back a laugh.

His eyes blazed with liquid heat and his voice dropped to a husky bark, “Move up.”

Marcy eased herself up, her thighs parting wider as she positioned herself high on his chest, her knees under his armpits. “High Mount is easier with female fighters. Your chest is so broad…”

He cut her off with a low growl. When she glanced down to see what she’d done to irritate him this time, she was caught in the blistering heat of his gaze.

“I’m on to you, little fighter.” His eyes glinted, amused. “Don’t think for a minute you’ll distract me from doing what I came here to do.”

A smile curled her lips. All week she’d had to listen to the fighters at the gym talking about the aura of mystique surrounding Jax and his “fighter whisperer” ways. And yet his visible discomfort at her position on top of him made him seem all too human. All too male. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

He raised an eyebrow and exhaled through gritted teeth. “How about we try for Mid Guard?” The warmth of his breath caressed her inner thighs and heat flooded her veins. How unprofessional. She’d practiced this position countless times with other fighters in the club. Not once had she ever wanted to tear off their clothes and…

“Actually, probably better if we move to Full Guard.” Jax bucked suddenly, throwing Marcy forward and onto her hands and knees, a standard defense to High Guard, but one that put her breasts within an inch of his lips.

Her nipples tightened and she quickly rolled to her back to hide her body’s response.

Jax moved into position on top of her, taking his weight on his elbows, his legs tucked between hers. So hot. So heavy. So masculine.

Dominant. Controlling.

Arousal coursed through her veins and she tried to think of anything but the erotic weight on top of her.

Coach. Training. Professional. But her body, now a live wire, wasn’t on board.

“How do you want me?” Her breathy voice shaded into a whisper.

Author, Victoria Behn Talks About D L King’s New Slave Girls Anthology

Giving in to Get Away

Victoria Behn

Victoria Behn Slave Girl tour 8 JuneThere are a lot of inspiring facets to D L King’s Slave Girls anthology. I could go all fan girl about the stories that turned me on so much that I became both the docile kitten and the famished tigress for my partner the day after receiving my contributor copy (we’re going to take our time working through some of the new ideas in there – erotica anthologies are a little like D&D source books, don’t you find?). Then there’s the clever arrangement of scenarios which cover a wide variety of submissive possibilities, meaning that (like the best box of chocolates) you’re never bored or dissatisfied. But the key aspect to this collection for me is the keen insight of its authors into what really drives us to explore our submissive nature.

These writers understand that the urge to obey, to be trussed up, to feel the unyielding sting of a quick cane across the backside, is as much about being in control as it is giving control to another. It’s that sacrifice of freedom in order to gain access to another world, one in which all the decisions are made for us and the endorphins flow like milk and honey. The addictive intoxication that comes from submission is summed up in the first piece in the book, Evan Mora’s Noise:

At times you can be unpredictable, preferring to keep me on edge and guessing. But this rhythm, hard and unyielding though it is, calms me in some indefinable way. The world and all its noise fall away and my focus turns inward. Feeling. Sensation. This is all there is.

And what can be more freeing than that complete trust in another person that means you allow them to control your movement, your comfort, your breath? It’s almost spiritual and there’s certainly a link in my mind between the real high that comes with a serious submissive session and the religious euphoria experienced by monks after flagellation.

Slave Girls: Erotic Stories of Submission explores the inner monologues that precede the moments before, during and after submission so there is a real sense of being there. The scenarios are both commonplace and fantastical, with liaisons which start anywhere from a supermarket to a bar, through to an intricate play cage housed in an impressive New York penthouse. The dominants are thoughtful, careful and absolutely sure that their slaves will behave – one way or another.

There are too many demands on all of us, every minute of every day. We’re expected to take charge at work, take responsibility at home, take care of the details – wherever we are. But what if, for just a little while, you were unable to make any decision at all? What if the only thought running through your mind was the instinctive, animal reaction to a hand, rushing through the air to meet your flesh? That is what Slave Girls gives you. It’s a book filled with moments of freedom. Give yourself to the authors. Let us take you to that moment. Then let your mind wander off into its own scenarios but remember…don’t misbehave. There will be repercussions.

Bridles and vampires? Bondage and discipline? YES YES YES! (@MFRW_ORG #vampires)

Bridling His VampireBridling His Vampire is a short story in the bestselling Highland Vampire series from Ellora’s Cave.

The events in the story took place in 1766, between Desire in Tartan (1759) and Rakes in Tartan (1816). It’s better enjoyed in the context of the series; however, it’s written as a stand-alone.

What’s it about, you ask?

Edgar, Laird MacReiver, has never regretted his decision to wed Isobel, daughter of Clan Kilburn’s laird, until she bites his tongue and drinks his blood. Still, he’s determined to bridle the wild child of the infamous vampire clan by any means necessary, including bondage and discipline.

But are some women impossible to tame?

Bondage and discipline? So it must be sexy, right? SHOW ME.

Okay! Here’s an excerpt!

Edgar’s lips caressed hers and her mind emptied of everything except this new experience. Isobel wanted to remember everything about her first kiss: the strength of his arms, the warmth of his lips followed by the wetness of his tongue as it slid slyly into her mouth.

His flavor was distinctive, a spice like nothing she’d tasted before, a toothsome relish composed of spring water, mint and honey. The scent of the forest mingled with his aroma, a fragrance that melded good male sweat with an underlying freshness that reminded her of the summer sun glittering on the sea.

His hand trailed down her back to curve over her bottom. He squeezed, and the tingling heat of passion spread from his broad warm palm to encompass all of her. A purr rose in her throat. She slid her arms beneath his and held onto his shoulders from behind.

She pulled him in tight, wanting nothing but this kiss to go on and on forever. Life had become so simple. Their mouths touching, their hands exploring, their bodies pressed against each other were everything. Nothing else mattered.

She sucked on his tongue but still wanted more. She nipped and then, tasting a new flavor, licked the tip. Was it his blood? She didnae care. He was delicious.

She sucked harder. Yes, that was his blood seeping over her tongue from the tiny bite, and it was intoxicating… He was intoxicating. He groaned and his grip tightened. She became aware that his muscular body had hardened against hers.

That she’d taken his blood had stirred him. A bolt of pure lust snapped through her. He was aroused by her need and that, in turn, inflamed her. His maleness thrust blindly, seeking her warmth and heat. She pressed herself against him not only with desire but also with a sense of wonderment. She had not known how good he’d feel pressed against her.

His hands shifted, roamed, explored… He took her wrists and drew them down to the small of her back.

He pulled away but she couldn’t reach for him to bring him back. He gripped her shoulders and looked into her eyes with a peculiar intensity. His blond hair swung loose, and she realized what he’d done.

He’d bound her hands behind her back with his leather hair tie.

“What…why did ye do that?” She tried to tug her wrists apart, but he’d tethered them firmly.

“To stop you from running away from me.” His panting breaths stilled, became controlled. He was always so controlled. She hated that.

He wanted to control her, and she hated that even more. “I don’t run from ye. I’m not a’feared of ye!”

“Isobel, you’ve been running from me for five years.” He began to unbutton her blouse.

“What are ye doin? Me da will kill ye!”

“Oh, I don’t think so.” He slipped a hand into her blouse. Her corset pressed her tightly, supporting her breasts, and he pushed his fingers down into the valley between the mounds. Withdrawing his hand, he released one, cupping it, flicking the nipple, watching it tighten.

He’d never touched her breast before. No man had. It felt good, but it was wrong. She raised a knee and tried to jam it into his cods. He twisted, and she struck air instead. Off balance, she teetered.

Knowing Her Place- Jess Sanders is on her way home…Wherever that is… (@kay_jaybee)

Per Sub 3

Trilogies have been very much “the thing” in the world of erotica for some time; and as their popularity hit new highs last year, I couldn’t believe my luck when I was asked to write one for Xcite Books.

Based on my (originally standalone) novel, The Perfect Submissive, the writing of this trilogy (of the same name), was a dream come true for me.

The story of Miss Jess Sanders, and her unexpected journey into the world of the professional sexual submission, begins with Jess taking a job as a booking clerk in a Business hotel in Oxfordshire. Before she knows what’s happening, the hotel’s manageress, Mrs Peters, has earmarked Jess as a trainee for her real domain- the fifth floor- where a whole new meaning comes to the term “adult entertainment.’ (The Perfect Submissive).

No sooner has Jess adjusted to, and accepted, the fact that she was born to live a submissive lifestyle, when she is unceremoniously whisked away from the Fables Hotel, and unbundled onto a plane to Scotland with Miss Sarah, under the custody of her most feared client, David Proctor. Informed they are being taken away to train up David Proctor’s new sub…however this isn’t entirely the case; for the women suddenly find themselves … (The Retreat)

In the final part of Jess’s story she faces the toughest challenges of all- not only finding her way home- but deciding exactly where that home- and with who…

Knowing Her PlaceKnowing Her Place Blurb

With her head full of unanswered questions, exhausted from her fairytale experience at the hands of Dr Ewen, Lady Tia, and the staff of the adult entertainment service provided by The Retreat, Jess Sanders is desperate to leave Scotland, and return to her usual submissive position at the exclusive Fables Hotel in Oxford.

Having been thwarted in his plans to keep Jess at The Retreat permanently, its owner David Proctor isn’t willing to let Jess go back to her dominatrix, Miss Sarah, and her employer, Mrs Peters, without sending her on one final mission. Only if she succeeds in her task, will Proctor remove the collar of servitude he has locked around Jess’s neck.

With a list of five unknown addresses in her hand, Jess Sanders is placed in a car and driven from The Retreat towards England. With no idea what or who awaits her at the first stop, all Jess can hope for is that her journey will eventually take her back to where she belongs.

To the Fables Hotel, where Jess Sanders truly knows her place.

I hope that’s whet your appetite…how about a little extract from Knowing Her Place, just to make sure!

Prologue

‘In about five hours.’

‘That sounds perfect. Though I have to admit, I’d long since given up on you honouring your promise.’ The man’s voice resonated disbelief down the phone.

Without betraying his annoyance that his word had been questioned, David Proctor replied smoothly, ‘I always keep my word, but as I promised you the best, then you’ve had to wait until I found the best. There are many who are merely good. This girl is excellent.’

Proctor could hear the breathing of the man on the end of the line quicken in anticipation.

‘Then I will prepare myself.’

His mobile still clasped to his ear, David flicked the harnessed breasts of his lover absentmindedly before saying, ‘And you know what to do when it is time for her to depart again?’

‘Don’t worry, Proctor! I have the instructions you sent. Transportation can easily be arranged for the time of her departure.’

‘Then I’ll leave you to your forthcoming pleasures. I look forward to your report.’

Hanging up the call, David bent to his submissive, kissing the sides of her gagged mouth as he stared into her hopeful eyes. With a salacious smile at her, he pressed another number into his phone pad. ‘One more call, my darling, and then it will be your turn.’

A small mew of frustration escaped from her lips as, for his fifth phone conversation in succession, David walked away from her.

Proctor needed 100 per cent of his concentration for this final call.

‘I’d be careful if I were you, young man, or you’ll build the abilities of this young woman up to the point where my expectations will be so great, she can only disappoint.’

‘Miss Sanders will not disappoint.’

‘If you say so, David.’ Ms Webster snorted out a derisive laugh. ‘Then I’d better get ready for her arrival. Does she know what is expected of her?’

‘Beyond being given your address, she will be told nothing until her arrival at your home.’ David paused as if considering giving additional information.

He decided against it.
